Professor Devin grew up playing many different sports but mainly focused on Swimming. He was a multiple time Texas high-school All-American and ultimately received some athletic scholarship to compete for his college’s Division 1 swimming program. While in school attaining a Business and Philosophy degree, Devin began training Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2005, receiving his blue belt under Roberto Kaelin shortly before moving to Denver, Colorado in 2008. After visiting many local gyms, he decided to make Easton BJJ his home and knows it was one of the best decisions of his life. He went on to be an instructor and competitor for Easton BJJ, representing the team locally, nationally, and while training/competing abroad in Brazil (along with GF Team/Theodoro Canal). In February 2019, Devin received his Black Belt from Amal Easton and a few months later his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Colorado University School of Dental Medicine. Devin currently holds the rank of First Degree Black Belt under Luiz “Dentinho” Eduardo.  Devin is married with a young son and a baby daughter.

Devin states “The Sparta Training Academy methodology is based off of a mixture of all the best coaches I’ve had competing at an elite level in swimming, training/teaching jiu-jitsu, along with the best teachers I had in academia while attaining my Doctorate”. Devin understands the importance for continued growth and the need for mentorship, leading him to seek out his business partner, friend and fellow coach, Matt Breitbach, to begin a Jiu-Jitsu gym focused on sport competition. Together they began the formation of STA-CDA and are focused on executing their mission statement.
